This piece is part of my collection called "Remembering New Mexico." I lived on the Jicarilla Apache Reservation near Dulce, New Mexico until I was about 4 or 5 years old. My father was a teacher there, helping people to get their GED. I don't remember a lot about that time, but I have a fleeting glimpse in my memory of a woman sitting with her child. This is my interpretation of that memory.
